Acura HID Bulbs Acura was one of the first auto manufacturers to equip their vehicles with HID lighting as a standard feature. Acura introduced HID lighting on the 1999 Acura TL which used HID-D2R bulbs. The lamps on the 1999 TL remained the same from 1999 - 2003. If you have a 1999 - 2003 TL, you should be on your second or third set of (low beam) D2R bulbs by now. As the 1999 - 2003 TL ages, it will also need a replacement ballast. We carry a suitable replacement for the 1999 - 2003 Acura TL ballast at our ballast page.
Acura started using projector headlamp lenses in 2004 (first seen on "new" 2004 TL). When they switched to the newly designed headlamp of the 2004 TL, Acura began using the HID-D2S bulb, which has no ceramic paint on the glass capsule of the bulb because there is no need to reduce ambient light due to the innate focusing nature of the projector lens headlamp.
Our 5000K's D2R and D2S bulbs are ideal factory replacement bulbs which will produce light that closely resembles day light. Our 6000K bulbs will produce a very bright pure-white light. And our 8000K bulbs will produce white light with a bluish hue that we at Plasma Garage call "Xenon-Blue."
